If you, like me, are finding it difficult to sit through the endless (and pointless) discussions before, between and after every match, not too mention, the even more pointless discussions and continuous reruns of the (rather tepid) opening ceremony that we have to suffer through during the rain delays, well there seems to be a solution! Turn to Twitter. The latest social networking site to take the world by storm seems to be the latest playground for our ipl stars. Well atleast, that’s what the creators of profiles like RealGraemeSmith and CaptainPonting would have us believe. We havn’t fallen for their trickery but whoever is infact tweeting from these profiles are giving us damn good entertainment as we wait for some real action on the cricket field.
My personal favourite is RealGraemeSmith who makes fun of most of his team mates and makes ‘blasphemous’ references to the match fixing scandal but does it in such a hilarious way that you cant help laughing at how he uses the 140 characters per ‘tweet’ (twitter post) in such an ingenious manner. And you can be sure this guy knows his cricket and evidently has insight into some inside jokes (maybe he is Real after all??!!). You can even read his tweets to a preityzinta profile and to (a very obviously fake!) faketonygreig. For some twittertainment go to www.twitter.com/RealGraemeSmith

There is also fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com. The blogger claims to actually be a member of the Kolkata KnightRiders and is creating quite a stir in the ranks by dishing dirt on the team. This guy (whoever he/she is) evidently knows a lot and is making the KKR management feel a bit squeamish even forcing CEO Joy Bhattacharya to deny its authenticity!

Whatever the facts may be both profiles have garnered quite a following and I must say are pretty darn good compared to some of the ‘expert’ coverage we are getting to see these days. Go Figure!
